Foreigner will be Sent Back to his Country of Origin After Attacking a Panamanian Worker

“The Consortium maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any conduct that threatens the physical integrity, dignity and respect that our collaborators, subcontractors and construction personnel deserve,” the statement said.

Panama City, Panama: The Panama Fourth Bridge Consortium (CPCP) announced in an official statement that it decided to immediately dismiss an employee following the conclusion of investigations related to an incident that occurred last Friday, May 22.  The company stated that, after completing the internal investigation process, the decision was made as part of its “zero tolerance” policy towards any conduct that threatens physical integrity, dignity and respect within the work environment.  Videos circulating on social media showed an incident where a worker allegedly assaulted an engineer on the construction site below.

Likewise, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to respect, peaceful coexistence and the safe development of the Fourth Bridge over the Panama Canal project pictured above, considered a strategic infrastructure for the country’s connectivity and mobility.  The Ministry of Labor and Workforce Development reacted strongly to the assault that occurred at the Fourth Bridge project, reiterating that Panamanian workers must be respected. The Ministry stated that no Panamanian worker can be humiliated or treated in an undignified manner, and confirmed that, following discussions with the Fourth Bridge Consortium, the repatriation process has begun for the former foreign employee involved in the incident. Furthermore, the Ministry affirmed that it will continue to act within the framework of the law, but always in defense of Panamanian workers.
