The Official Song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup: Shakira and Burna Boy Release ‘Dai Dai’

Shakira will co-headline the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, scheduled for July 19.

Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning artists Shakira and Burna Boy have released their new musical collaboration titled “Dai Dai ,” launched through Sony Music Latin and presented as one of the official tracks leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.  The song will not only be part of the tournament’s musical atmosphere, but will also be linked to a charitable cause: it will be the official anthem in support of FIFA’s Global Citizen Education Fund , an initiative that seeks to raise $100 million to improve access to quality education and sport for children in vulnerable communities.

Music with a Social Purpose

As part of this project, Shakira has decided to donate the song’s royalties to the educational fund, while Sony Music will contribute an initial donation of $250,000 as part of its commitment to the cause. In addition, the Colombian artist will also donate $1 for every ticket sold for the next leg of her ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour’ to the same fund. “Dai Dai” was announced during the Global Citizen NOW event in New York, where the role of music as a tool for global social impact was highlighted.

Shakira at the 2026 World Cup Show

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Shakira will co-headline the halftime show for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, scheduled for July 19. In this historic show, which will feature a halftime format for the first time in a World Cup final, the singer will share the stage with other international stars such as Madonna and BTS.  The show will seek to unite sport, music and culture on a single global stage.  For his part, Burna Boy celebrated the collaboration and the message behind the project.  “The World Cup is one of the few things the whole world experiences together. Football and music speak the same language. They unite people regardless of their background,” the Nigerian artist expressed.

Upward Trajectories Globally

The release of “Dai Dai” comes at a pivotal moment for both artists. Shakira continues to solidify her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which has broken attendance and revenue records internationally, while preparing new shows in the United States and a residency in Europe.  Burna Boy, considered one of the most influential figures in contemporary African music, continues to expand his global impact with international tours and collaborations that fuse music, culture and sport.  With “Dai Dai”, both artists reinforce their presence at one of the most important sporting events in the world, bringing a message of unity, culture and social commitment on a global scale.

Shakira is Considered an Ambassador for Latin America in the World Cups

Shakira confessed that she has always had “an undeniable connection with football and the World Cup ” after FIFA announced that the Colombian singer will perform alongside Madonna and BTS at halftime of the 2026 World Cup final on July 19. “This will be my fourth World Cup, but I think it will be the most special of all because this edition plans to leave an important legacy for all those children who are invisible, who live in vulnerable conditions, and who don’t have access to a quality education,” Shakira said in an interview with news media.  When asked if she sees herself as an ambassador for Latin America at the World Cup, the Colombian singer affirmed that she does, given her “undeniable” connection to football.

“This World Cup feels different from the others. Obviously, my journey with ‘La La La’ (Brazil 2014) and ‘Waka Waka’ (2010) has been extraordinary. ‘Waka Waka’ is one of my most cherished songs, and both are also part of my musical legacy,” she noted.  Shakira will not only be one of the musical stars of the 2026 World Cup final; she will also be part of the official soundtrack for the entire tournament with her song “Dai Dai ,” released last week.  “With ‘Dai Dai,’ I also have the opportunity to contribute something more, because we are donating 100% of the profits to the FIFA Education Fund and Global Citizen’s charitable causes ,” the Colombian singer shared.
