Properties Linked to the Rector of Unachi and 12 Family Members are Being Investigated by the Prosecutor
The investigation focuses on the rector and a circle of twelve additional people, among whom recurring surnames such as Bonagas Medianero and Medianero Atencio stand out.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has been following the trail of the assets accumulated by the rector of the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi), Etelvina Medianero de Bonagas, and her closest family for more than a year. The request, addressed to the Director General of the Public Registry, seeks to determine precisely whether these individuals hold properties registered in their name or in non-profit companies, organizations or associations in which they appear as directors, officers, legal representatives, partners or subscribers.

The Outcry from the Unachi Students Demands the Rector’s Resignation

The institutional crisis at the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi) continues to escalate, and now the students themselves are publicly demanding the resignation of the rector, Etelvina Medianero de Bonagas, and her entire administrative team. “The atmosphere within the university is one of total uncertainty. Every week we wake up to a new controversy, and that negatively affects the entire university community,” said Williams, who attributed the crisis to the management of the current university authorities.
Justin Williams, president of the Student Association of the Law School of Unachi, said that the university is experiencing ‘total uncertainty’, a result of poor management.
