Indigenous dissident group opposes protests
A group of members of the Ngäbe-Buglé General Congress said on Monday morning that it does not agree with the protests and organized street closures for Tuesday, February 5, called by leader Silvia Carrera and other rural sectors and Colon organizations.
Edilberto Sánchez, President of the General Congress Ngäbe-Buglé, said there is no strong reason for road closures and protests, so why "endorse that movement."
Sanchez said they are complying with the agreements signed with the government of President Ricardo Martinelli in San Lorenzo, last year.
