In Less Than 12 Hours the National Police Seized More Than Two Tons of Suspected Illicit Substances in Four Operations.
In less than 12 hours, the National Police, through the National Anti-Drug Directorate (DNAD) and the National Directorate of Police Intelligence (DNIP), in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office and with the support of Lince units, seized 2,235 packages of suspected illicit substances and 100 ecstasy pills in four operations carried out in different parts of the country. Six people were also arrested. In the first operation, carried out on the grounds of the Villa Lucre Police Zone, 110 packages of suspected illicit substance were seized, and two cell phones and a vehicle were confiscated, in addition to the arrest of one person.
Later, at a Pacific port, anti-drug units, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office and Customs, located 1,146 packages hidden within the structure of industrial machinery inside a container from South America. Meanwhile, in the province of Chiriquí, 100 ecstasy pills were seized. In the province of Colón, specifically in the district of Cristóbal, in the Vereda Tropical neighborhood, four people were arrested and 979 packages of suspected illicit substances were seized. During this operation, a firearm, a large quantity of ammunition, and cash were also recovered. Additionally, 12 people allegedly linked to the sale of synthetic drugs were apprehended, eight of them in La Chorrera and four in the metropolitan area, as a result of actions carried out by police units in coordination with the competent authorities.
