Tocumen Airport on recovery path despite Omicron
Tocumen International Airport reported the movement of 1,132,044 passengers in the month of January, 59% more than the same month last year despite the impact of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 and the harsh winter in the Northern Hemisphere that forced the cancellation of some 160 flights.
In January, the air terminal increased its direct connections to 76 destinations, through 19 commercial companies, to the main cities of America, Europe, the Caribbean and Asia.
Passenger transit through Tocumen, by region, is headed by South America with 45%; North America with 30%; Central America 11%; while the Caribbean region contributed a 9% share and Europe 5%.
