India to host business forum in Panama
The Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will visit Panama for the first time, on April 24 and 25.
First Latin America and the Caribbean tour began in Guyana and will continue to Panama, then Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) will hold a Latin America-India business forum. The forum will involve executives from India’s major companies
The minister’s agenda includes a meeting for the Mechanism for Political Dialogue and Cooperation between India and the Countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA), which will take place under the Pro Tempore Presidency of Belize. Panama, as the political hub of the region, will host the meeting.
The connection between India and Panama dates back to 1962. Panama established the first Indian diplomatic mission in the Central American region. Panama hosts the largest Indian diaspora among the Spanish-speaking countries in the world.
