For Future Disasters, Panama President Mulino Orders an Inventory of Humanitarian Aid
Mulino, along with the First Lady, oversaw the processing of 200 tons of humanitarian aid for the victims in Venezuela this Sunday.
The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, spoke via video call with the members of the inter-institutional team that Panama sent to Venezuela to carry out humanitarian and rescue work amidst the difficult situation that country is going through due to the earthquakes.

Mulino’s Message to Rescuers
“I am very proud of each and every one of you, as well as the vast majority of the Panamanian people who have contributed to getting these tons of cargo, supplies and provisions of all kinds to the collection points in Venezuela,” Mulino told the rescuers. The conversation took place while the president, along with the first lady of the Republic, Maricel Cohen de Mulino, was at the Regional Logistics Center for Humanitarian Assistance in Panama Pacifico, inspecting the packaging of more than 200 tons of humanitarian aid. All these supplies were donated by thousands of Panamanians and Venezuelans residing in Panama, mainly at the collection center established by the Office of the First Lady in Omar Park.

Hundreds of security forces, assisted by personnel from Southern Command, are processing the 200 tons of humanitarian aid to transfer it in an orderly manner to the Venezuelan victims. Meanwhile, Panamanian rescuers are already working alongside other international teams in La Guaira, one of the areas hardest hit by the two earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude that shook the South American country on June 24. The Panamanian mission comprises 61 people and 4 rescue dogs. Similarly, two flights carrying humanitarian aid have already departed for Venezuela, while in Panama Pacifico the enormous quantity of donated supplies continues to be processed and organized.
Inventory of Humanitarian Aid
On the other hand, the president gave instructions to make a large inventory of humanitarian aid to be acquired to respond to future catastrophes, inside or outside the country. The First Lady, for her part, thanked all those who donated, and sent a message of solidarity to the Venezuelan people on behalf of all Panamanians. “We are working for you. First, we will send everything needed for the search and rescue efforts; that is the first stage. We have already sent tents, medicine, picks, shovels—everything that can be used. Once the search and rescue is complete, we will send humanitarian aid,” she stated.
