An Immersive Space to Boost National Tourism: The ‘Panama Room’ Opens at Tocumen Airport
An interactive showcase for the millions of passengers who pass through the Hub of the Americas.
Panama City: Tocumen International Airport now boasts a new and innovative must-see stop for international travelers. Located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, the Panama Lounge has officially opened, a modern space designed to invite transit passengers to discover the country’s rich culture and numerous tourist attractions.

This initiative aims to transform the user experience within the airport terminal. The main strategy involves leveraging the enormous flow of people passing through the so-called Hub of the Americas to convert transit passengers into actual tourists, encouraging them to leave the airport or plan an extended stay in the country. The main attraction of the Panama Room is its technological and interactive approach.

The venue features a giant immersive screen equipped with audio, where images of the country’s various provinces are projected, highlighting the beauty of regions such as Chiriquí, Santiago, Veraguas, and Coclé. In addition, visitors can interact with an interactive map highlighting 13 key tourist destinations. By touching the screen, the platform displays photographs and detailed information about the activities available at iconic locations such as:
- The Valley of Anton
- The Pacific Riviera
- Pedasí
- Saint Catherine
- Gap
- Highlands
- Bocas del Toro
- The Gulf of Chiriquí
The site is designed to be a planning tool. Through its digital platform, users can enter their personal information and design a customized itinerary for trips of 3, 5, 7, or up to 15 days. Similarly, the system facilitates the decision to immediately take advantage of Copa Airlines’ Panama Stopover program, allowing travelers to stay a few days in the country at no additional cost to their airfare.

This international promotion project is the result of a joint effort between the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Tocumen International Airport, and Copa Airlines. During the opening ceremony, authorities and the project’s creators agreed that this launch marks a milestone and a turning point for the sector, as it will allow people who only had a superficial understanding of the airport to truly connect with Panama’s potential. The Panama Room will be open to the public free of charge from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
