Metro will Review the Financial Viability of the Panama and San Miguelito Cable Car Project as There Were No Bids

The bidding process for the cable car between Panama City and San Miguelito was declared void after neither of the two pre-qualified consortia submitted proposals for the project valued at $278 million.

The cable car project that would connect the districts of Panama and San Miguelito was put on hold after neither of the two pre-qualified consortia submitted proposals on Thursday, May 28, during the event for receiving and opening bids for the public tender being conducted by Metro de Panamá, SA (MPSA). 

The two prequalified consortia authorized to participate were the SPE Cable Car Consortium, made up of Sofratesa de Panamá, Inc. and Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana de Infraestructura, SA de CV; as well as the San Miguelito Cable Car Consortium (TSM), made up of Cointer Concesiones, SL and Doppelmayr Panamá Corp.
