Happy Canada Day July 1st 2026

Canada Day in Panama is primarily celebrated by the country’s vibrant Canadian expat and snowbird communities, with the highland town of Boquete, the beach town of Coronado, and Panama City acting as the main hubs.

While it is not a public holiday in Panama, expats gather at local venues to celebrate their roots with traditional food, drinks, and Canadian-themed events.  Look for Poutine and Back Bacon along with Maple Syrup.

Key Celebration Hotspots

  • Boquete, Chiriquí: This is the epicenter of Canadian gatherings in Panama, drawing crowds for large-scale get-togethers.
  • Coronado: Coastal expat communities also mark the day, with venues like the Panamá Brew House historically hosting Canadian-themed BBQs, drink specials, and karaoke.  Panama City also has many Canadian expats.

Typical Expat Festivities

You can expect these celebrations to heavily feature Canadian staples and a social, welcoming atmosphere:

  • Food & Drink: Watch for Canadian classics like Bloody Caesars, fries and gravy, and poutine, often offered at highly discounted happy-hour rates.
  • Dress Code: Attendees are typically encouraged to wear their favorite Canadian T-shirts, hockey jerseys, and hats.
  • Community: It serves as a major social networking opportunity to meet fellow snowbirds, long-term residents, and locals.
