Anti-Corruption Operation in Panama: Three Customs Officials Arrested

The suspects were apprehended after search warrants were executed at residences located in the Monte Rico and Nuevo Tocumen neighborhoods. The evidence and the suspects were turned over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for further proceedings.

Panama: Three officials from the National Customs Authority, including two men and one woman, were arrested this Monday for alleged criminal conduct related to crimes against the Public Administration, in the form of corruption.  The suspects were apprehended after search warrants were executed at residences located in the neighborhoods of Monte Rico, in the district of 24 de Diciembre, and Nuevo Tocumen. 


Amidst the actions carried out by personnel from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Customs and the Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ), public documents related to the reported events, cell phones and a large amount of cash were located.  The complaint was filed by a local businessperson on May 27, 2026, with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office for acts of corruption, as detailed by the Public Ministry.  Once the investigation was completed, the evidence and the suspects were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding procedures.
