Two Men Found Guilty in Panama of the 2024 Murder of Spanish Tourist Eneritz Argintxona

A Panamanian court found Antony Planes (“Leche”), 39, and Joshua Parris, 24, guilty of homicide and robbery in the July 2024 murder of 30-year-old Spanish tourist Eneritz Argintxona Fraile. The verdict was reached following a three-day trial in the Bocas del Toro region.

Case Details & Verdict:

  • The Crime: On July 23, 2024, Argintxona was walking on an isolated trail on Carenero Island in Bocas del Toro. Planes attacked her from behind with an object, striking her in the head. Parris then stole her bag, which contained an iPhone and a GoPro, and the two fled, leaving her on the beach.
  • Discovery: Her body was found three days later on July 26, 2024. The autopsy confirmed her cause of death was cranioencephalic trauma (severe head injury).
  • The Verdict: The Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Bocas del Toro successfully secured guilty verdicts for the charges of homicide and robbery. The specific number of years they will serve in prison will be determined at a separate sentencing hearing.
