More than 12 Participating Nations Enter Panamax 2026 Taking Place in July and August
Between July 1 and August 31, the temporary deployment of naval units, aircraft, and helicopters from participating countries is planned, under the coordination and authorization of the Panamanian State, in compliance with established protocols.
Panama City, Panama: Panama will host the multinational security exercise Panamax 2026, one of the most important joint training exercises internationally, which will bring together more than 12 allied countries and approximately 1,500 personnel from police and security institutions, with the aim of strengthening the protection of the Panama Canal and regional security. According to information from the Ministry of Government, the exercise will take place from July 6 to August 14, 2026, reaffirming the country’s strategic role as a key point for hemispheric cooperation in security matters.

As part of the preparation, from Monday, May 18th to May 22nd, the final planning meeting is being held, in which representatives of the countries involved participate, in order to coordinate the operational scenarios, logistics and guidelines of the exercise. The Government of Panama highlighted that this new edition of Panamax is being held at the invitation of the host country, which reinforces its leadership in international cooperation, hemispheric security and protection of one of the most important trade routes in the world. The exercise will involve nations such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and the United States, among others, consolidating a joint effort focused on maritime, air and land security in the region. Authorities reiterated that Panamax 2026 will be conducted in strict respect for national sovereignty, the neutrality of the Panama Canal, and the principles of international cooperation that have historically characterized the country’s relations with its strategic allies.
