According to the Bank of America Higher Canal Revenues Support a  Favorable Outlook for Panama

Bank of America sees good prospects for the Panamanian economy in its recent report on Panama.  “The overall assessment is positive. The main positive event for 2026 is the potential reopening of the Cobre Panamá mine, or at least an announcement pointing in that direction. Meanwhile, fiscal data suggests that the government will likely meet the Fiscal Rule target this year. And the strength of the Panama Canal, benefiting from trade diversion, is cushioning the impact of the Iranian shock on the Panamanian economy,” Bank of America stated, summarizing the results of their visit to the country to speak with government officials, business leaders, and independent analysts.

The Bank of America report “Panama Watch” indicates that a possible reactivation of the Donoso mine, coupled with increased Canal revenues and compliance with the fiscal target, strengthens the positive outlook for the Panamanian economy in 2026.
