Panama’s First Lady will take the Isthmas’s Voice on Resilience and Childhood to the UN.
The First Lady of the Republic, Maricel Cohen de Mulino, began an official mission this Saturday that will take her to New York and Guatemala, with a work agenda focused on social resilience, the protection of girls and adolescents, leadership, culture and international cooperation. From September 19 to 25, the high official will carry out an intense agenda in US territory within the framework of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where she will accompany the President of the Republic as pictured below, José Raúl Mulino, in the official commitments of the Panamanian delegation and will simultaneously lead social diplomacy meetings with global leaders and peers from the region.
One of the most important events of her tour will take place next Wednesday, September 23, at the UN headquarters, where she will participate in the high-level event of the Global Summit Platform of First Ladies and Gentlemen, entitled “World 2026: Finding Stability in Times of Uncertainty”. In this forum, designed to analyze current challenges in the face of global conflicts, inequality and climate change, Cohen de Mulino will speak to officially present the Global Resilience Vocabulary, an initiative developed jointly with agencies such as UNICEF and the World Health Organization, which compiles the practices and concepts of 38 nations to cope with adversity.
During her address to the international organization, the Panamanian representative will present a unique perspective on resilience, defined as the ability to recognize difficulties and find the collective strength to move forward, encapsulating that spirit of determination in the emblematic national phrase: “Let’s go all out!” Also, the First Lady’s agenda for that same day will include her participation in the ceremony for the transfer of the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Alliance of Spouses of Heads of State of Latin America (ALMA), an event in which the outgoing First Lady of Guatemala, Lucrecia Peinado, will hand over the reins to the First Lady of Ecuador, Lavinia Valbonesi, thus consolidating the bridges of cooperation and the coordinated work between Latin American countries.
