Half of Panama’s external deposits come from five Latin American countries, a reality that links the financial center to the economic and political cycles of the region. The Panamanian banking center depends heavily on resources coming from other countries. The figure, as of April 2026, represents 41.3% of all deposits received by Panamanian banks, which totaled $120,742.5 million. In other words, 41 out of every 100 dollars deposited in the CBI correspond to external deposits.
