Jacob Helberg the U.S. Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Holds Meetings in Panama

During his stay, Jacob Helberg held high-level meetings with key figures from the Panamanian and U.S. cabinets.

U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg is fulfilling an official agenda in Panama as part of a regional tour that includes Guyana and Costa Rica.  During his stay, Helberg held high-level meetings with key figures in the Panamanian cabinet, including Foreign Minister Javier Martínez Acha; Minister of Economy and Finance, Felipe Chapman; and Minister of Commerce and Industries, Julio Moltó. 

According to the U.S. State Department, the delegation’s visit has as its main goals to promote U.S. interests in the region, strengthen strategic alliances on energy security, and secure supply chains of critical minerals, which are fundamental to technology and the global energy transition.  The meetings were also attended by the United States Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera, who reaffirmed his country’s commitment to working closely with the Panamanian administration on issues of shared economic growth.
