Independents vie to replace Assembly thugs
The efforts carried out by independent deputies to encourage citizen participation – without ties to political parties – in popularly elected positions in 2024 are interesting, especially for the National Assembly, where thugs, opportunism, and patronage reign.
To get out of the quagmire in which the usual politicians have plunged us, the commitment of honest citizens, willing to serve the country, and not the other way around, is needed. Undoubtedly, in the political parties, there are people who want to work for their fellow citizens, but the system is made to marginalize them and, as much as they fight, the system expels them, because what reigns is playfulness and patronage. For this reason, the political parties are stagnant, sunk in the mud of corruption. The 2019 elections were an experiment that bore its first fruits, so it is worth continuing to search for the positions of deputies, mayors, and representatives, facing the party machinery, which suffers from wear and tear and obsolescence. It is clear that not all the “independents” are the best of the electoral offer nor that all the candidates of the political parties are bad. You just have to have good judgment when choosing .- LA PRENSA, Apr. 6.
