Panama leads region with covid vaccinations
Panama is the Central American country with the highest proportion of the population fully immunized against Covid-19 reports the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). According to official data until last October 2, at least 60 out of 100 people had complete vaccination schedules against the virus.
This scenario has contributed, according to the report of the regional body, to the decrease in cases of infection with the virus.
Progress in vaccination, biosecurity measures, such as the use of masks and face masks in public transport, physical distancing, isolation of cases and quarantine have also been key factors that have contributed to Panama reducing the number of Covid-19 cases.
PAHO highlighted the measures applied in public places and the permanent actions of the health authorities, such as the traceability of cases and contacts, the genomic surveillance of SARS CoV-2 and the maintenance of access to tests.
