River contamination hearing adjourned
A HEARING into a company accused of the alleged contamination of La Villa River in Herrera has been adjourned again as a defense attorney has called for a change of judge.
The case against Campos de Pesé was to have been heard Monday, September 21, but was adjourned until Oct. 14.
Evidel Quiel, the defense attorney, said that he has sought to have the judge in the case, Sedy Margoth Ureña de Herrera, replaced due to previous decisions issued against the company..
Quiel said that the judge can be replaced under provisions of the criminal procedure code, and that the company deserves a fair hearing.
The Oct. 14 hearing will be held to determine whether or not evidence exists to call the company officials charged in the case to trial.
