111,000 Panama minors vaccinated
At least 111 thousand Panama children between 12 and 15 years of age have been vaccinated reports Eduardo Ortega, advisor to the Panama Covid-19 Vaccine Research Consortium.
Ortega said that in most circuits they are vaccinated from the age of 12 even though they do not have a chronic disease.
“We will be vaccinating the general population from the third week of September. We expect to have 70% of the population fully vaccinated by the end of September and close to 80% by the end of October ”
The private hospitals, which joined the vaccination process, received authorization two weeks ago to apply doses to minors between 12 and 15 years of age.
On the Telemetro Open Debate program, Ortega announced that between October and November they expect to have the data for the vaccination of minors between 5 and 11 years old.
Currently, first and second doses are being placed in different circuits of the country and it is expected that in the coming weeks the placement of second doses will increase in order to have the largest number of fully protected people.
According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, until Saturday 3,921 t 381 doses had been placed since the process began in January 2021, between Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.
