A Preventive Seizure of Assets Belonging to Former Minister of Public Works Rafael Sabonge has been Ordered by the Panama Comptroller’s Office.
The Comptroller General of the Republic adopted precautionary measures on assets and funds linked to former minister Rafael José Sabonge Vilar, up to a preliminary amount of $704,452.61, as part of the actions to safeguard public interests.

The measure was adopted through Resolution No. 2766-2026-DNAJ/MP of September 8, 2026, following preliminary evaluations by the National Directorate of Investigations and Forensic Auditing, the entity reported in a statement.

The actions include the preventive seizure of assets, funds, vehicles, and other property up to the established amount. The institution specified that these measures are precautionary and form part of the legal procedures to protect state assets while the corresponding legal proceedings continue.
