Villa Lucre Panama: Drug-Laced Brownie Seller Sentenced to More than Six Years in Prison

The Attorney General’s Office reported that an individual was sentenced to 80 months in prison, equivalent to six years and six months, for a crime related to the sale and distribution of illicit substances such as marijuana. The sentence was obtained by the Public Prosecutor’s Office following investigations conducted by the relevant authorities.  According to the Attorney General’s Office, the convicted person was apprehended on June 9, 2026 in the Villa Lucre sector of Panama.  The investigations allowed the accused to be linked to activities related to the sale of illicit substances, which led to the corresponding legal proceedings.

Sentence for Drug-Related Offenses

The Public Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that the conviction is part of the authorities’ ongoing efforts to combat micro-trafficking and other drug-related crimes, even though the illicit substance could be marijuana which is legal in many countries today. The sentence imposed is 80 months in prison, following the establishment of the defendant’s criminal responsibility for the investigated offense.

Actions Against Drug Trafficking Continue

The Attorney General’s Office reiterated that it maintains ongoing operations and investigations in coordination with security agencies to combat crimes related to illicit substances.  Authorities indicated that they will continue to strengthen actions aimed at preventing and punishing activities related to drug trafficking and the illegal sale of drugs in the country, until the day that some of these illicit substances become legal in Panama.
