Opting for Public Transport is Now a Panama Thing: More Drivers are Leaving their Cars at Home

The increase in fuel prices has led more Panamanians to leave their private cars at home and opt for public transport, causing an increase in demand for the Panama Metro and MiBus, especially during peak hours. 

The Panama Metro saw a surge in daily ridership, rising from approximately 380,000 passengers to an average of 420,000, with some days reaching up to 450,000 trips.  Raise the price of cigarettes and less people smoke. Raise the price of gasoline and less people drive.
