A 22-year-old woman died after being attacked with a machete by her partner on Valle Escondido Island, Bocas del Toro province. A forensics team traveled to the scene to begin the investigation. According to testimonies from relatives of the victim and the aggressor, the couple had an argument at 5:00 am on Sunday, September 20, which led to the fatal outcome. The family, devastated by the incident, urged authorities to expedite the investigation into the femicide, a case being handled by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ). The perpetrator has already been apprehended.
