A Panama Network of Foreigners Sending Drugs via Parcels Has Been Dismantled
They were captured in the middle of “Operation Courier”.
On the morning of Tuesday, May 5, the Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the dismantling of a criminal network dedicated to drug trafficking from Panama, whose method of operation was through courier services through which they sent drugs out of the country. Authorities had been tracking this drug trafficking network since 2024, and during “Operation Courier,” at least 11 people were arrested, including Panamanians and foreigners.

It was reported that most of the foreigners were Jamaican citizens. This gang, operating from Panama, used package delivery companies to smuggle drugs into North America and Europe, directly to the end consumer. The substance was hidden among merchandise, thus managing to evade controls. At this time, it has not been specified what type of drugs they were trafficking. Agents from various security agencies participated in the 10 raids this morning.
Raids
There were 10 raids carried out this Tuesday from the early morning, in various parts of the country. The “Operation Courier” involved units from the Drug Prosecutor’s Office, the National Police, the Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ), as well as agents from the National Aeronaval Service (Senan). This type of international drug trafficking has been detected in several countries (now also in Panama), and the networks take advantage of international systems of fast and discreet delivery that goes directly to the consumer.
