Fuel Subsidy for Key Transport Sectors is Created In Panama with a Fully Digital Process
Transport operators in Panama working in colectivo, selectivo and colegial services can now apply for the fuel subsidy through a fully digital process set up by the Autoridad del Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (ATTT). The registration is handled through the Panamá Conecta platform and is designed to speed up applications while reducing validation errors. The online system centralizes the request process for eligible drivers and operators, replacing a more cumbersome manual approach with a step-by-step digital workflow. Authorities are also directing applicants to a digital guide on the official portal so they can complete the process correctly. Applicants are instructed to begin on the ATTT website, where they can access the manual and the link to Panamá Conecta.

From there, users fill in personal information and vehicle details according to their transport category, review the data carefully, and submit the form for validation. The process is intended to prevent delays caused by incomplete or incorrect information. Careful review before submission is especially important because the system is designed to verify each application against the requirements set for the subsidy. At this stage, the subsidy registration is available only for transport operators in three categories: colectivo, selectivo and colegial. That means bus, taxi and school transport operators in those groups are the first to access the digital platform. Transport cargo operators will be added later, expanding the program to another segment of the sector.

For now, authorities are urging those drivers to stay attentive to official announcements as the rollout continues. The shift to a digital application system reflects a broader push to simplify public service procedures in Panama. For transport operators, a faster registration process can help reduce administrative bottlenecks and improve access to a subsidy that directly affects operating costs. Fuel prices remain a major concern for transport workers because they influence daily expenses and service continuity. A more organized application system can also help authorities better manage beneficiary records and ensure that support reaches eligible operators more efficiently.
