Removal of Material at the Cobre Panamá Mine Announced by MICI
The MICI stated that the decision to remove the material from the mine is based on technical reports that categorize it as an environmental risk.
The Minister of Commerce and Industries (MICI), Julio Moltó pictured above, confirmed that between this Monday and Tuesday the official resolution authorizing the removal of the concentrated material in the Cobre Panamá mine, located in Donoso, Colón province, will be processed. “We are ready to take the next step. I believe that between today and tomorrow, within the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, we should issue the resolution that will allow the company to begin removing this material so that it can be taken out of the country,” Moltó stated.

The decision to remove the material is based on technical reports that classify it as an environmental risk. According to Moltó, after the corresponding audits were carried out and the requests from the Ministry of the Environment (MiAmbiente) were received, President José Raúl Mulino instructed the initiation of legal proceedings for the company to proceed with the removal of the concentrate from the country.
