President José Raúl Mulino made public this Saturday the invitation from his counterpart Santiago Peña, President of Paraguay, to the signing ceremony of the association agreement between the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) and the European Union (EU).  Mulino took the opportunity to praise the country’s work in said agreement.  “Panama plays in the big leagues, as a facilitator of world trade and integration of the Americas,” he said via X.

He asserted that this is one of the world’s largest free trade agreements.   According to Peña’s letter, the ceremony will take place next Saturday, January 17, in the city of Asunción.   “The signing of this agreement will crown more than two decades of negotiations and will contribute to a historic milestone in the relationship between both parties, as well as an unequivocal sign of the bloc’s commitment to openness and cooperation,” the document states.
