The Panama Police have Made Some 49,000 Arrests for Various Crimes So Far in 2025

So far in 2025, the National Police has made approximately 49,750 arrests for various crimes through various operational and preventive actions throughout the country. Deputy Commissioner Demetrio Martínez of the National Police indicated that among the most notable crimes are those against life and personal integrity, against the legal order and civil status, in the form of domestic violence, against sexual freedom and integrity, gang activity, drug trafficking, and others. All of these detainees were referred to the corresponding authorities for due process before the courts. The National Police continues these operations to remove lawbreakers and those with pending cases from the streets.
