Panama celebrates Our Year to Shine on Canada Day July 1

 July 1 Canada Day, will be celebrated around the world this year with the theme Our Year to Shine. 

In Trafalgar Square, London, home of Canada House, there will be live performances and at home base, Ottawa, the traditional noon time celebrations will be attended by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Canadians in Panama will be hosting two events, one on Canada Day, when expat Canadians, and their guests will raise a glass to Canada and the Queen, and a family picnic event on July 17.

 This year the Canadian embassy in Panama will not be hosting an event. The Canada Day celebration is being organized by the Canadian Association of Panama and will be held at 7.30 at Madame Chang’s on Calle 48 in Marbella. For a small donation  Canadians and their guests will be treated to snacks prepared in the kitchen of what the New York Times has described as “the best Chinese restaurant in Latin America.”
Local recognition of its catering standards came this week when a $300 a head chamapagne reception, linked to a Carolina Herrera fashion show raising funds for the First Lady’s charity programs was held there.

Canada Day guests will pay a modest $6, for their delicacies and a Canadian punch for the traditional toast, and there will be a cash bar. Payment for the event will be at the door.
Those who wish to end the evening with a full meal, can make their reservations on arrival.
This year Canada Day will mark the Canadian Naval Centennial, the 125th birthday of Canada’s First National Park, and the 400th anniversary of Cupids, Newfoundland and Labrador—the first English settlement in Canada.
There’s a lot to celebrate, so don’t and bring a friend … all nationalities will be welcomed.

Details of the Picnic, a family event, planned for Saturday July 17 have already been announced, but more details will be provided during the next week. Tickets are already on sale at $7 adults, $3 children and can be obtained by calling either of the two numbers menioned above.
