Bocas problems caused by misinformation –Martinelli

President, Ricardo Martinelli, said on Sunday that the crisis in Bocas del Toro which has led to two deaths during clashes with the police was the result of misinformation and the contravesrial law 30 will not be repealed.

The statement came after a ten day  strike in the banana plantations of Changuinola, Bocas del Toro,leading to two deaths and scores of injuries, many serious.
According to Martinelli, the Act "does not affect labor rights and gives the option only to workersto decide whether or not to pay union dues."He blamed the problems in Changuinola on "misinformation and a series of lies" that have swirled around the issue.”

 Accompanied by ministers of state, he said the Government will continue dialogue to resolve the situation .

He said the rights of workers such as holidays, leave and Sunday as a day of rest remain the same and have not been eliminated by Bill 30.{jathumbnail off}
