Metro construction will increase traffic woes
Can Panama’s traffic woes get worse? Yes indeed says Roberto Roy the man in charge of the city’s upcoming Metro system.
He warns that it will get worse once construction begins on the first line of the Metro. He said that the issue of mitigating the effects on traffic will be one of the factors in deciding which company is awarded the contract to build the system.
The most critical point, he said, will be the intersection of Vía Transístmica with Avenida de La Paz, where construction will start on the underground portion of the line. And, as we all know, a snarl in one part of Panama city quickly spreads as there are no escape routes.
The first line of the Metro will start in the area of Los Andes, San Miguelito, and will end at the Albrook Terminal.
