Zulay Rodríguez Lost Her Seat
It’s now official: Zulay Rodríguez lost her seat after the final count of the minutes in the circuit 8-2, San Miguelito. The board proclaimed the seven candidates who won a seat within the National Assembly for the period 2024-2029: four candidates from the Vamos Coalition: Eduardo Gaitán, Alexandra Brenes and Luis Duke, all selected by quotient, and Yarelis Rodríguez, by remainder. In addition, Raúl Pineda, of the PRD, is re-elected (half ratio) and Luis Eduardo Camacho, of RM, arrives at the Assembly (ratio) along with his co-partisan Omar Ortega. Rodríguez, who was seeking re-election, was confident that she would obtain the seat, despite the fact that there were still votes to be counted. At 6:00 pm she went to the headquarters of the Circuit Board at the IJA in Brisas del Golf. But minutes later she left amid boos. “I want to report irregularities.
The TER, inexplicably, took votes from me,” Rodríguez said in a conference. Until this Wednesday, Zulay was winning the seat, according to unofficial results from the TER system, but then she was ousted by Omar Ortega, from RM. She said she appeared to have 12,283 votes; however, “inexplicably” 94 votes were taken away from her. “The only one they took votes from was me. When I went to the TER they said that they did not have complete information from the San Miguelito Scrutiny Board,” she added.
