Garbage dumping causes floods in Panama city

GARBAGE dumped into rivers and the collapse of sewers led to flooding in several parts of Panama city after heavy during the afternoon of Saturday, May 25.

Arturo Alvarado, director of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) warned that garbage clogging streams and drains inevitably leads to flooding and he repeated previous calls residents to avoid littering rivers and clean the gutters surrounding their homes.

He also urged the authorities to bring own the appropriate punishment, on inhabitants who insist on dumping their trash in places that will lead to flooding
