Rain brings floods, landslides and traffic chaos to Colon
HEAVY RAINS causing floods and landslides left 50 people homeless in Colon on Tuesday, May 28
Five dwellings were affected by a landslide in the area of La Represa, where a three-month-old infant was rescued by members of the civil defense agency Sinaproc.
Four houses in the area of San Judas Tadeo were affected by landslides. Two of the homes were a total loss.
Another damaged house was in Villa del Caribe.
Flooding occurred in Villa Caribe, Villa Guadalupe y Arco Iris and Cuatro Altos.
Authorities recommended people living in vulnerable areas tp evacuate as more rains are expected.
There were long delays caused by the flooding of Vía Transístmica Flooding was also reported in the Colón Free Zone and in several streets in downtown.
