Martinelli lawyers to appeal Supreme Court decision

LAWYERS of former President Ricardo Martinelli were officially informed on Wednesday February afternoon were reported, of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), decision to admita a criminal complaint against the former leader.

Martinelli will be investigated by the Supreme Court after the former director of the National Assistance Program (NAP) Giacomo Tamburrelli pointed him as the person who gave the order to approve a contract for $45 million for the purchase of dehydrated food.
Lawyers Rogelio Cruz and Sidney Sitton were presented with the decision,
Sitton told the media that the defense of Martinelli whose whereabouts are unknown will lodge an appeal before the Court. Later, say TV reports he called for investigation of former Minister of the Presidency, “Jimmy” Pappadimitriu and former Minister of Social Development, Guillermo Ferrufino who regarded Martinelli as his mentor.
CD PROTESTS
Meanwhile members of the opposition Democratic Change (CD) protested at noon at the Attorney General’s Office to demand due process in cases against former officials of the previous administration. The demonstration came on the day that media reported that ex-PAN director Rafael Guardia Jaen told the anti-corruption prosecutor that 10% of the scammed money went to the CD party, which was founded, and is led by, Martinelli.
