OFF THE CUFF: Parking law heads for Supreme Court
THE TUG-O-WAR over parking charges to customers visiting malls and businesses continues as The National Assembly set in motion a process in motion before the Supreme Court of Justice to rule on the constitutionality of a bill which provides for the free use of parking lots.
The initiative was partially vetoed by the Executive after considering that it does not stimulate the construction of more parking lots, among other objections, but the full National Assembly insisted on passing in September 2015, It was then referred to the Court.
There was widespread public reaction when malls introduced paid parking. The bill stipulated free parking at all businesses with time and location variations.
