Panama-Japan ink first agreement for building Metro 3
PANAMA AND JAPAN have signed the first of several agreements leading to the construction of a space age Line 3 of the Panama Metro, running from the Albrook transport terminal to Arraiján in Panama West.The tender for construction will be in the first quarter of 2017.
Luis Miguel Hincapie, Panama’s Vice Foreign Minister signed the terms of technical and financial cooperation to be provided by Japan. His counterpart Hitoshi Kikawada, Japanese Vice president Foreign Affairs. Signed for Japan.
Japan pledged to approve funding of more than $2 billion for the project.
Hincapie, told La Prensa that his visit to Japan and Korea had been highly productive.
The Government of Panama requested the Government of Japan to provide technical cooperation for the project management of the project as well as to manage the interface between the system monorail line 3 project and the fourth bridge over the Panama Canal.
He held meetings with representatives of major airlines in Korea and Japan, to sustain their interest in direct flights to Panama. “We want to become the gateway for them in America, and for them to become our gateway to Asia.
He also, talked with representatives of the SUDOKWUN waste treatment agency , to to create joint ventures between Panama and the agency. As a first step it was agreed that the Administrator of Panama’s waste authority will travel to Korea to begin negotiations.
