Nadia del Río’s Appeal to Release Assets Seized by the Public Registry is Rejected by the Supreme Court of Justice.
The Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) did not admit a constitutional protection appeal filed by the former institutional executive director of the Ministry of the Presidency, Nadia del Río, against an alleged “verbal order” from the general director of the Public Registry to impose precautionary measures on assets owned by her. Through Edict No. 1357 posted in the Court’s secretariat last Friday, the parties are informed of the decision taken by the Plenary of the CSJ. The ruling, signed by Judge Olmedo Arrocha, dismisses one of the two appeals filed with the Court to try to halt actions taken by the Comptroller General of the Republic Anel Flores below left, and the Public Registry that have affected Del Río’s assets. The former official also filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Resolution 3126-2026, dated September 23, 2025, issued by the Comptroller’s Office, which initiated an investigation process. On August 24, Del Río also requested a hearing regarding the impact on rights against Comptroller Anel Flores, but the presiding magistrate of the Court, María Cristina Chen Stanziola, declined jurisdiction in favor of the Court of Accounts. Del Rio’s defense protested on that occasion because among the accounts seized by order of Comptroller Flores (as part of an investigation into his assets) is supposedly the one in which the maintenance pension of his minor daughter is deposited. Furthermore, it was reported that day that the magistrate considered that the Court could only intervene when the alleged violation of rights —during the investigation phase— is attributed to the prosecutor in the case.

Edict No. 1357 does not give details of the reasons why the Court did not admit the appeal: whether it was for reasons of form in the presentation or for reasons of competence. Del Río, a 43-year-old lawyer, was considered one of the most influential officials in the government of President Laurentino Cortizo (2019-2024) and very close to former Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo pictured below, the PRD presidential candidate in the May 2024 elections.
She was Cortizo’s assistant, although on the official payroll she appeared with the position of executive director of the Ministry of the Presidency, a position for which Nadia del Río pictured below, received a monthly salary of $6,000. Carrizo is also being investigated for alleged unjust enrichment, in a separate case.
