Investing in Panama. Minister Moltó Highlights the Interest of Spanish Businesspeople.
The Minister of Commerce and Industries, Julio Moltó, highlighted the interest of Spanish businessmen in Panama after a four-day trade mission he led in Spain, where he held meetings with representatives of the private sector and authorities. “In Spain, there is a lot of interest in Panama,” Moltó stated while sharing the results of his visit with the media. The head of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MICI) explained that the country’s strategic advantages have sparked the interest of Spanish investors. He detailed that he held meetings with five businesspeople who see Panama as a potential hub for relocating their operations to Latin America and the Caribbean.
Moltó also announced that a Spanish business delegation is scheduled to visit in October to learn more about the country’s strategic infrastructure and special regimes, including free trade zones, multinational company headquarters, and the Qualified Investor regime. During the trade mission, Moltó met with the Spanish Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López Senovilla, to discuss issues related to bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation. The agenda also included a discussion with the Executive Committee of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and a visit to the Santander Group’s Financial City. One of the main events was the II Panama 2026 Investment Forum, held at the headquarters of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), in Madrid, which brought together more than 200 representatives of institutions, multilateral organizations and companies from both countries.
