Winner of the Guyana Grand Prix is Panamanian David Carballeda

‘A lot of hard work paying off. Staying strong and not losing faith in myself, despite the challenges,’ Carballeda added after crossing the finish line first.

Driving his legendary Mitsubishi Evo VI, Panamanian driver David Carballeda shone at the Guyana Grand Prix, achieving his first victory of the season in the 2026 GT Challenge of the Americas.  With a solid, strategic, and precise driving style, he crossed the finish line in first place, thus consolidating a victory that allows him to add valuable points in the fight for the GTS Jr. category championship and reaffirms his commitment to continue proudly representing Panama in every race.

“I am very happy and proud of this great achievement. This victory is for my country and for all those who support me and believe in me. Taking our flag to the top in such a competitive championship is an indescribable honor,” the Chiriquí driver said excitedly.  “A lot of hard work paying off. Staying strong and not losing faith in myself, despite the challenges,” Carballeda added after crossing the finish line first.  Carballeda won his category, as well as first place in Masters and finished third overall.

Analyzing their performance in the third round of the GT Challenge of the Americas, he acknowledged that, despite achieving first place in their category, they faced several setbacks, especially under adverse weather conditions.  “This was a very intense race. We went all out and took first place, even passing the Guyana car, which is in a different category, and we held it off for quite a few laps. In the train, the Panama Veloster got right on my tail and pulled away a little, but I pushed hard again and we beat it on the last jump,” said Carballeda.   The Chiriquí driver is a two-time champion of the most important series in Central America and Panama.
