Woman Arrested in San Carlos, Panama

A 53-year-old woman, allegedly involved in investigations for crimes against the economic order, specifically in the category of financial crimes, was arrested by the National Police during a search operation at a home located in the district of San Carlos. The investigation, carried out in collaboration with the Prosecutor’s Office Against Economic Order, stems from a complaint filed by a local bank alleging financial losses exceeding $500,000 resulting from the improper use of credit cards. 


According to the results of these investigations, the woman made unauthorized withdrawals exceeding $569,000 using a credit card belonging to her husband, who died in March 2022.  During the search, two credit cards and the deceased’s license were seized, as well as two cell phones. These materials will be presented to the competent judicial authorities.
