Patients and Families Join Vigil for Doctor Iván Sierra Robles 

Patients, friends and family of neonatologist Iván Sierra Robles joined together for the second consecutive day Monday August 26 to peacefully protest against the 60-month sentence imposed for the death of several newborns at the Dr. Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex of the Social Security Fund (CSS) in June 2013.  The protesters, dressed in white and carrying balloons and white candles, participated in a vigil held on 50th Street, near Plaza New York. This is the second demonstration by this group of the doctor’s patients, since last Sunday, the 25th, they had gathered on the coastal strip. 

The demonstrators expressed their support for Sierra Robles in this judicial situation and highlighted “the human and professional quality that characterizes him, as well as his love, dedication and concern for the well-being of his patients.”  An account called “Support for Doctor Sierra” was created on the social network Instagram, where parents share their positive stories with this doctor.  It was learned that Monday the doctor met with CSS authorities, but no details were offered about the meeting.
