Protestors  and  anti-riot police clash

 

Protestors and anti-riot police clashed on Monday, October 23, on the main road of Pacora (Panama East) , in the midst of a call for days of protests against the contract between the State and Minera Panamá for 40 more years.

The protests began in the early morning and became more acute as the hours went by reports La Prensa.

Hundreds of people had to walk to reach their destinations and get away from the confrontation area, where the police fired tear gas and the protesters responded with stones.

The road in front of the Chepo Regional University(Panama East)was been completely blocked by members of the Panama Teachers Association.

“There are more of us and we are not afraid”, “Without fighting there is no victory” and “Fighting is fighting” are some of the choruses of the protesters, who reiterated their rejection of Law 406 of October 20, 2023.
