US anti-corruption czar cancels Panama meeting
The visit that the anti-corruption manager of the United States Department of State, Richard Nephew, had scheduled for Monday, October 23 has been canceled, says the United States Embassy in Panama.
Last weekend it was reported that Nephew would arrive in Panama City on Monday to meet with judicial officials, members of civil society, and representatives of other entities.
The announcement of the cancellation of Nephew’s trip comes at a time when there are protests in different parts of the country, to reject the approval of the contract between the State and the Minera Panamá company for the extraction of copper in Donoso, Colón.
The US official also had a visit to Colombia on his agenda.
