Four men get 20-year jail terms for rape of Norwegians

A court in the province of Colón sentenced four men to 20 years in prison, for crimes against sexual freedom and integrity, economic assets, and Illicit association to commit crimes, to the detriment of six Norwegian citizens. The sentence comes through the validation of a consensual sentence agreement between the Public Ministry and the legal defense. The Trial Court also applied to those sentenced as an accessory penalty the disqualification from exercising positions or professions in parks, kindergartens, schools, or in any place where minors regularly gather, for a term of five years, once the main sentence has been served.

The case is related to the events recorded on November 9, 2019, when those sentenced intercepted the “Alibabá” sailboat with the six victims on board, at a time when it was in the waters of the community of Nombre de Dios, district from Santa Isabel, on the coast above the province of Colón.
