The last patient leaves Covid-19 Hospital

Manuel Vásquez McKay, the last patient of the Covid-19 Hospital, of the Social Security Fund (CSS), located in the City of Health, was discharged with ”great satisfaction, emotion, and smiles”, said the health entity on  Saturday, April 9.

After the decrease in cases in recent weeks, after two years of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic in Panama, the health authorities have determined to relax the measures. The Covid-19 Hospital will be converted into a cardiovascular center.

Dr. Alex González, national executive director of CSS Health Services and Benefits said that this represents a “milestone” in the goals that exist as a health system because the Covid-19 Hospital has served to support the great demand of patients who were needing,  beds in critical respiratory care units.

On July  12 it will become, in the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Institute of the CSS, in the City of Health, which will respond to a demand for needs that exist around cardiac surgeries for both adults and children, said Dr. González
