Zuckerberg loses face and billions as system crashes

AFP reported that Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, lost $7 billion in a few hours due to the falls of the shares, during a  six-hour shutdown of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp on Monday October 4, affecting billions of users around the world.

The system went offline at 10.22 am and returned intermittently in the early evening.

Several international media highlighted that the interruption comes at a difficult time for the technology giant, after compromising documents for the company were revealed on Sunday.

“The generalized fall occurs at a very delicate time for the company, in the spotlight in recent weeks by a journalistic investigation that has exhibited internal documents that reveal how the company knew the toxicity of Instagram for many adolescents,” reported the Spanish newspaper El País .

According to the Downdetector.com website, where users report application failures, the WhatsApp crash began at approximately 10:22 am The failure prevents the connection to WhatsApp Web, as well as the sending of messages and multimedia.

In the case of Facebook and Instagram, their web versions could not be accessed late in the day and Mobile apps worked intermittently.

WhatsApp confirmed through its Twitter account the problems they were registering. They reported that they are working to restore service as soon as possible.
